On the Blue Day, Let’s Color our Campus with Blue!

On 15th July, 2013, it was a national holiday, Marin Day. In spite of a public holiday, A.G.U. students had their classes. Thus, some students complained that they were little enthusiasm for studying but wanted to enjoy the beach on just Marin Day. That was why Johana Aira Cuellar (sophomore in School of International Politics, Economics and Communication) made a plan called “on the blue school day, let’s color our campus with blue!”

　　　The Intention of her was that even if it was the holiday, every A.G.U. students could enjoy Marin Day and were willing to going to school. For the students who sympathize with her idea through SNS (Social Networking Service) such as Facebook and Twitter, she proposed that they go to the campus with sea color like blue, green or white on 15th July.

　　　That day, many students joined her plan and Aoyama campus was tinged with sea colors by them.

　　　To the question from A. G. University News staff “you planed that, and how about that?”, she answered, “First, It opened the idea on Twitter with very casual, but this idea was retweet and shared on Facebook by many students. Finally, I could get about 800 participants through only Facebook. As I had not expected so many sympathies, I w as very surprised and overjoyed at their cooperation. I am thankful for everyone. I am very happy if I made as many A. G. U. students as possible enjoy Marin Day.”

　　　Also, she has interest in clothes and she also has activities as a member of a fashion circle, MOD. “In the future, I try to realize events which make every student be joyful like a senior prom and a Halloween party,” she said with sparkling eyes.

2013年7月15日は祝日、海の日！一般的には休み。だけれども、青山学院の学生は授業がある。少しは勉強する意欲はあるけれど、海の日なんだから、青学生はビーチで遊びたいとおもってる！ジョアナ・アイラ・カーラー（国政2年）が「海の日、学校を青く染めよう！」キャンペーンを企画したのはこんな気持ちに応えるためだった。

彼女の思い通りにいけば、たとえ祝日だとしても、すべての青学生が海の日を楽しんで、喜んで学校に行くはずだ。SNS（FbやTwitter）を通じて、彼女のアイデアに共感した青学生に、彼女は海色の服（たとえば、青や緑）を7月15日に着て学校に行こうよ！と提案。

そして、海の日、多くの生徒が彼女の提案に乗り、青山キャンパスは海の色一色となった！

我々、青山学院英字新聞のスタッフはジョアナに聞いてみた。「この企画をやってみて、今どんな気持ち？」彼女は答える。「最初、軽い気持ちでこの企画をTwitterでつぶやいたんだけど、リツイートされて、Facebookでもシェアをたくさんしてもらいました。最終的に800人の参加者がFacebookだけでも集まってくれて、本当に皆さんには感謝しています。そして、私は多くの青学生が海の日を楽しませる場を作れてうれしいです！」

彼女は洋服が大好きでファッションサークルMODのメンバーとして活動中。「いつかは、ハロウィーンパーティーや海外のプロムなどのように青学生全員が楽しめるイベントを実現させたいです」彼女の眼は輝いている。
