EAGO

Eago is the official mascot character of Aoyama Gakuin, which was chosen by students in 1999, the year of the 50th anniversary of our school. During the Aoyama Festival, a different type of Eago appeared. It is Eago of Law department. What is different from original one is the book he has in his hand. Original one is the Bible and the one of law department has a compendium of laws.

Professor Kikuchi’s seminar in The Law Department, in which students study intellectual property rights, sells products every year during the Aoyama Festival. This year they sold clock with paper clip, and Eago printed pencils in limited amount. According to Kaho Kozasa, who takes this seminar, their aim of selling Eago goods was to make Eago known better. She says, “Although most of A.G.U. students and their parents knew the character, visitors from completely outside didn’t know about him.” Running the project, they learned how to do the business through intellectual property, utilizing Eago.

イーゴは1999年、青山学院が50周年を迎えたときに学生の投票によって決められた青山学院の公式マスコットキャラクターである。この青山祭ではいつもとは違うイーゴ君が展示教室をにぎわせていた。その正体は法学部のイーゴ君だ。ちがいは手に持っている書物が聖書ではなく六法という点だ。

法学部の菊池ゼミでは知的財産権について扱っており、その授業の一環として受講生は毎年イーゴ君グッズを売る。今年はペーパークリップ付きのイーゴ君時計や、イーゴ君がプリントされたオリジナルペンを売った。このゼミを受講する小坂夏帆は、この展示の目的はイーゴ君の知名度を上げることにあると語った。このプロジェクトを通して、知的財産権としてのイーゴ君を使い、どうビジネスを展開するかを学んだ。
