Discover Little Stops of Enoden

Enoden, it’s a mini-train running between Fujisawa and Kamakura.Station in Kanagawa Prefecture. Most of tourists get off at Fujisawa, Kamakura, or Enoshima Station. There are many souvenir shops and restaurants near those stations. Those stations are popular, but other stations have their own variety. These are 3 stations that have distinct feature.

First station, Koshigoe is different from other stations. Koshigoe Station is smaller than the train. If you want to get off at this station, you must not be in the last car. The door of the last car will not open. There is Ryukoji near the station. It is a temple of the Nichiren Sect. It was used as the place to punish in the Kamakura period. Because of that, it has been said that a ghost will appear at midnight...

Second station, Yuigahama is close to the sea. Other stations are close to the sea as well, but Yuigahama has a beach that is popular. Every summer, many sea houses are opened. For example, there are bars, international cuisine restaurants, and clubs with live music. One of the most famous Japanese Ukiyoe artists, Utagawa Hiroshige liked it here and he painted a picture, “Yuigahama” in about 1834.

Third station, Kamakura High School Mae is the station most recommended. Though there are very few shops for tourists, some tourists get off at the station for Kamakura High School. This school was used as the model of Japanese comic “SLAM DUNK” which appeared in that comics. Its gymnasium is absolutely the same. Many pieces of this school is also used. Nowadays, the member of Arashi, Ninomiya Kazunari visited this school for a TV program. This station and roads near the school were also used in the comic, so there are many things that are same. That is why tourists from Japan and foreign countries get off at Kamakura High School Mae Station.

If you ride on Enoden, you can see the sea by your side and feel the salty scent of it, but you can also be touched by the charms of Enoden. Enon, the original character of Enoden, is always waiting for you!

江ノ電、それは神奈川県の藤沢駅と鎌倉駅の間を走る電車です。ほとんどの観光客は藤沢駅か鎌倉駅、または江ノ島駅で電車を降ります。駅の近くには多くのお土産屋さんやレストランがあります。それらの駅は人気がありますが、他の駅にも個性があります。他とはまったく違う特徴を持つ、３つの駅があります。

最初の駅、腰越は他の駅とは違います。腰越駅は車両より小さいのです。もしこの駅で降りたかったら後ろの車両にいてはいけません。後ろの車両のドアは開かないのです。この駅の近くには龍口寺という、日蓮宗のお寺があります。ここは鎌倉時代、処刑するために使われていました。なので、そこには真夜中に幽霊が出ると言われています。

二つ目の駅、由比ガ浜は海の近くにあります。他の駅も海に近いのですが、由比ガ浜は海岸が有名です。毎年夏には多くの海の家が開かれます。例えばバーや多国籍料理のお店やライブハウスなどもあります。浮世絵で有名な歌川広重はこの場所を気に入り、1834年に「由比ガ浜」という絵を描きました。

三つ目の駅、鎌倉高校前はもっともおすすめの駅です。観光客向けのお店はありませんが、観光客の中には鎌倉高校のためにこの駅で降りる人もいます。この学校は日本の漫画、スラムダンクのモデルとして使われました。体育館は漫画の中で出てくるものとまったく同じです。最近では嵐のメンバーである二宮和也さんがテレビ番組のためにこの高校を訪れました。ここの駅や高校の近くの道路も漫画に出てきます。このことから、日本や外国の観光客は鎌倉高校前駅で降りるのです。
