The Reason Why Strong Liverpool Is Coming Back

Liverpool, which had faced with serious depression in Premier League(PL) lately, became a strong soccer club in this season again. What makes Liverpool so strong? Let’s search for the reason why.

The first reason is the two top forwards, L. Suarez and D. Sturridge. L. Suarez is an all-round soccer player. His passing, dribbling and shooting are the core of Liverpool’s attack. His strongest point is his mentality. He never gives up fighting and always keeps running and trying to score goals. D. Sturridge became a new star last season and has improved all his abilities in this season. His strong point is high speed. He can move to open space behind defenders and score a goal with his speed. His left leg is great. He can variously shoot with it. Although they can give defenders pressure by themselves, their combination can easily destroy solid defense lines. For good combinations, they are called “SAS,” Suarez and Sturridge. “SAS” is the best pair in PL, because they score the most goals.

The second reason is the existence of great captain. The captain of Liverpool is Steven Gerrard. Let’s look at his mainly brilliant successes in Liverpool. His debut in PL was 1998. In 2001-2001, he won three champion cups. This is so-called “The cup treble.” It was great, but this success was only starting point for him. The 2003-2004 season was his turning point, because he took over the armband, the symbol of captain, from Sami Hyypia. In 2005, his biggest success had come. He won the Champions League(CL), the best competition in Europe. The final game of it was fantastic! Moreover, Liverpool added two goals in the second half and the game entered the overtime. However, it didn’t end in the overtime. Finally, Liverpool won CL by penalty kick. For this game, Gerrard became one of the best players in the world. 9 years later, he is 33 years old. Generally, 33-years-old players became weak little by little. However, he gets back his brilliance and leads his team stronger.

The final and the biggest reason is the existence of Brendon Rodgers, the manager of Liverpool. His tactics was very attacking style. The key of his tactics is made of keeping possession of the ball and playing a flowing passing game. Before he became the manager of Liverpool, the tactics is defensive, but he changed everything about practices, mentality and so on. His style is praised and excites Liverpool’s supporters.

If Liverpool wins PL, it needs all elements, the best manager, players, tactics and luck. In this season, it lost some important games and it prevented to win the PL. However, all supporters believe that it is going to win the PL and CL.
